This collection contains several decades of railway connected photographs taken throughout Scotland. Photographs of both Steam and Diesel Trains can be viewed. A number were photographed at the Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway, so additional images are available of the station, also the museum and model trains exhibition all of which are situated at the station in Bo’ness.

Gallery Locomotives- Steam and Diesel Trains.

Steam trains are amazing machines to photograph. While the sound and smell of these trains may not be conveyed in a photograph their power can be with the movement of the wheels and the steam. Diesel trains may not have the same impact but I can see why these trains have such a strong appeal. Steam trains are from a bygone age and there is one bridge in particular that reflects that age, the Forth Bridge. To capture both a steam train and the Bridge together is a rare occurrence but it is worth making the effort to do so. There are several spots where this can be achieved, many of my images are taken from the Forth Road Bridge with a long lens. Photographs can be viewed that were taken at Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway. In addition to seeing the locomotives you can visit the large and very interesting Museum. In addition there is also a model railway exhibition which has a great layout with several trains. The station itself has many period features which make interesting photographs. I was lucky enough to have a ride on the footplate of one of the steam trains, it was an amazing experience, which I will never forget. Many thanks to Alex Naismith the train driver that day for allowing me access.

I was lucky enough to have a ride on the footplate of one of the steam trains in 2009, it was an amazing experience, which I will never forget. Many thanks to Alex Naismith the train driver that day for allowing me access.
